Vidas Positivas
'Vidas Positivas' is the result of a participatory documentary film project conducted in Bogotá, Colombia.
It follows the work and lives of, J+Col (Positive Youths of Colombia), a group of young people living with HIV in Bogotá.
The film explores how 5 of the groups member's experience the social and political implications of living with HIV in Bogotá. The portraits of the groups members were developed in collaborative workshops during filming and seek to represent the lives of the individuals beyond their HIV diagnosis.
For these young people HIV is not a tragedy, but an opportunity to work together to challenge stigma and discrimination surrounding the virus and help others living with HIV. Their attitudes challenge negative stereotypes about the illness and show how they have used their diagnosis to invoke positive changes in their lives.
